Anne Hathaway never revealed how she injured her right arm.

And after trading a wrist-to-elbow plaster cast for a tidy black splint yesterday, The Princess Diaries actress stepped out today completely cast free.

But despite her arm being visibly on the mend, the actress didn't look to be in the best of spirits as she walked in New York's Tribecca district alongside her fiance, Adam Shulman.

Cast away: A cast-free Anne was also out and about with Adam yesterday

Cast away: After having a plaster cast removed from her injured arm yesterday, Ann Hathaway walked the streets of Tribecca, New York, with her fiance Adam Shulman today

The 29-year-old actress appeared to be make-up free beneath her dark glasses, frequently looking down at the ground.

She looked to be in a serious discussion with Shulman, also 31.

The two have been dating since November 2008, and announced their engagement in November last year.

Visibly injured: The 31-year-old actress remained mum on the reason for her plaster cast (L), which was yesterday removed and replaced with a black splint

Adam, meanwhile wore black jeans, dark trainers and a white T-shirt.

The Dukes of Hazzard actor looked equally serious as he walked alongside Anne, who had her hair cut short recently for the role of an impoverished French prostitute in the upcoming movie version of Les Miserable.

Before audiences get to see Ann in Les Mis, however, they will first see the A-lister in the highly anticipated new batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, which is slated for release on July 20.
